Case #710 — Tudor Pelagos “2-Liner”
Ref. 25500TN
Status: Available
Condition: Excellent Pre-Owned
Scope: Box, Papers, and Cards
Case Notes
The original Pelagos was already one of Tudor’s most serious tool watches. The early 25500TN “2-Liner” may also be the cleanest version.
This is the first-generation Pelagos, powered by the ETA 2824-based automatic movement used before Tudor transitioned the collection to its manufacture calibre. That earlier movement architecture is what gives the watch its collector nickname: the dial carries only two lines of text above 6 o’clock instead of the denser layout found on later versions.
The result is a noticeably cleaner face.
Around it, the rest of the watch is pure purpose: a 42 mm titanium case, black dial, luminous ceramic bezel, helium escape valve, sapphire crystal, 500 meters of water resistance, and Tudor’s ingenious titanium bracelet with its self-adjusting spring-loaded clasp system.
This example dates from 2013 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition. It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7½-inch wrist.

Collector Provenance
The 25500TN is the original Pelagos.
Introduced before Tudor’s full move into manufacture movements, this reference carries the earlier ETA-based architecture and a much cleaner dial layout than the later in-house versions.
That difference is small on paper and immediately obvious on the wrist.
The later Pelagos added more certification and movement text to the lower half of the dial. The early watch simply leaves more negative space, which is why collectors commonly refer to it as the “2-Liner.”
It is also a relatively thinly traded reference today.
Design Provenance
The Pelagos has always been much more utilitarian than the Black Bay.
The titanium case and bracelet keep weight down, while the square luminous markers, Snowflake handset, black dial, and matte surfaces give the watch a deliberately functional character.
The early 2-Liner dial strengthens that effect because it simply has less printing.
There is very little visual noise between the markers, hands, and date aperture.
The result is one of the most instrument-like watches Tudor has made.
Technical Provenance
The 25500TN uses an ETA 2824-based automatic movement running at 28,800 vibrations per hour with approximately 38 hours of power reserve.
The movement may be simpler than the later Tudor manufacture calibre, but it is extremely well understood and widely serviceable.
The case specification remains serious: 500 meters of water resistance, helium escape valve, screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, and a unidirectional dive bezel.
The titanium bracelet is one of the standout features of the entire Pelagos line.
Its self-adjusting clasp uses a spring-loaded mechanism designed to expand and contract with changes in wrist size or diving conditions, making it far more sophisticated than a conventional fixed clasp.
From the Case File
This is the early Pelagos configuration collectors tend to notice.
The ETA movement, sparse 2-Liner dial, titanium construction, and 500-meter specification give the watch a very different character from the later manufacture-movement generation.
Case 710 dates from 2013 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition.
It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7½-inch wrist.

BST Verdict
The original Pelagos, and arguably the cleanest.
The early 2-Liner dial, ETA-based movement, titanium case and bracelet, self-adjusting clasp, helium valve, and 500-meter rating make the 25500TN one of Tudor’s most purposeful modern tool watches.
Case 710 adds a 2013 date, Excellent condition, and complete BPC presentation to a discontinued configuration that remains meaningfully different from the Pelagos models that followed.
Every case deserves a closer look.
