π Case Notes
The Black Bay Pro is Tudor's answer to a question collectors had been asking for years: what would a compact, fixed-bezel, true-GMT tool watch look like in the Black Bay idiom? Introduced in 2022, the reference pairs Tudor's Black Bay design language with the functionality and aesthetic of classic expedition watches β a 39 mm steel case, a satin-brushed fixed 24-hour steel bezel, a domed matte black dial and Tudor's Snowflake hands. The yellow 24-hour hand is the signature detail, and the one most people notice first.
This example dates to 2023 and arrives in Box, Papers, and Cards. It is graded Good Pre-Owned and has clearly been worn and enjoyed rather than kept in a drawer. The case and bracelet show moderate wear throughout, consistent with regular use. The sapphire crystal carries a small fleabite and a very light scratch in the area between roughly 3 and 6 o'clock. The 24-hour bezel shows three dings, located at the 22, 24 and 12 markings. None of this is hidden in the photographs, and the watch is priced and presented as the honestly worn tool watch it is.
The bracelet is currently sized to fit an approximately 7Β½-inch wrist. Tudor supplies this reference on its riveted steel bracelet with polished and satin finish and the "T-fit" clasp with rapid adjustment, so small day-to-day sizing changes require no tools at all.

π Collector Provenance
Tudor already had a GMT when the Pro arrived. The Black Bay GMT was in the catalogue, and yet Tudor released a second GMT in a different size, drawing on the heritage and style of the Rolex Explorer II. That decision is the whole story of this reference. Rather than another rotating 24-hour insert and a two-tone colourway, the Pro took the fixed-bezel, fully legible, field-and-expedition route β and did it at 39 mm, making it the smallest Tudor with a GMT function at launch.
The dial deserves attention too. The black dial carries monobloc luminous ceramic markers, a construction detail that gives the markers their raised, chunky look and separates the Pro visually from earlier Black Bay dials. The crown was also reworked for this model: the thin fluted profile and aluminium tube used on previous Black Bay models were replaced by a classic deeply notched crown.
For collectors, the Pro occupies an unusual position in the Black Bay family β not a diver, not a dress watch, not a retro reissue of a specific vintage reference, but a purpose-built travel instrument assembled from recognisably Tudor parts. It generated genuine debate when it launched, which is usually a sign that a watch has a point of view.
π Technical Provenance
The Manufacture Calibre MT5652 with built-in GMT function was developed by Tudor specifically for the Black Bay Pro, built into the movement's architecture rather than added as a module. That matters in practice: a built-in GMT is generally more robust and better integrated than a module stacked on a base calibre.
Functionally, this is a true traveller's GMT. The local time hand β the main, shorter Snowflake hand β moves in one-hour increments, forwards or backwards, independently and without stopping the movement or disturbing minutes and seconds, while the yellow 24-hour hand continues to display home time. For anyone who actually crosses time zones, this is the configuration worth having.
The roughly 70-hour power reserve is described by Tudor as "weekend-proof" β the watch can come off on a Friday evening and go back on Monday morning without resetting. The calibre is COSC-certified and runs a silicon balance spring at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and Tudor states factory accuracy of between -2 and +4 seconds per day on delivery. We have not independently timed this example and make no claim about its current rate.
π§Ύ From the Case File
At 39 mm with a 20 mm lug width and a short lug-to-lug of around 47 mm, the Pro wears considerably more compactly than its specification sheet suggests. Case height is 14.6 mm β this is not a thin watch, and buyers should know that going in β but the modest diameter and tight lug span keep it planted rather than perched. On the supplied bracelet it is currently sized for an approximately 7Β½-inch wrist, and the T-fit clasp allows up to 8 mm of extension across five positions, which covers seasonal wrist swing or a tighter fit over a cuff without a trip to the bench.
The practical case for this particular example is straightforward. It is a 2023 watch with Box, Papers, and Cards, which is the complete accessory picture most buyers want, and 200 m of water resistance with a screw-down crown means the honest wear it already carries is not a reason to baby it. Someone who wants a Black Bay Pro to wear hard β travel, weekends, daily rotation β will find that the first marks have already been made by someone else.
Be clear-eyed about what "Good Pre-Owned" means here: moderate wear across case and bracelet, three visible dings on the fixed bezel at the 22, 24 and 12 markings, and a small fleabite plus a very light scratch in the sapphire between roughly 3 and 6 o'clock. A fixed steel bezel, unlike a ceramic insert, shows its history rather than chipping it away. If you want a flawless example, this is not it. If you want a genuine tool watch with its paperwork intact and no anxiety about the first scratch, it is.
ποΈ BST Verdict
A 2023 Black Bay Pro on the riveted steel bracelet, complete with Box, Papers, and Cards β the configuration most collectors look for, in a reference that gave Tudor a genuine 39 mm travel watch rather than a second take on an existing one.
Honestly worn and honestly described. The marks are documented above and visible in the photographs, and in exchange you get Tudor's built-in GMT calibre, a 70-hour reserve, 200 m of water resistance, and a watch that is already past the point of needing protection.
π Every case deserves a closer look.
