🔎 CASE NOTES

Before the modern Panda and Reverse Panda Black Bay Chronographs arrived, there was this: Tudor's original steel Black Bay Chronograph. Introduced in 2017, the M79350 combined the Black Bay's dive-watch architecture with a motorsport-inspired chronograph, creating one of Tudor's more distinctive modern references.

The monochromatic black dial, steel tachymeter bezel, and contrasting silver chronograph registers give this generation a noticeably different personality from the later ceramic-bezel models. At 41mm it has substantial wrist presence, while retaining the familiar snowflake hand and rugged Black Bay design language.

More important is what sits inside. Tudor's MT5813 is a COSC-certified automatic chronograph developed from Breitling's B01 architecture and modified to Tudor specifications. It uses a column wheel and vertical clutch and provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve.

Case #604 is presented in excellent pre-owned condition. It is offered watch-only with a presentation box and is currently sized for approximately a 7.5-inch wrist.

⚙️ MOVEMENT DOSSIER

The MT5813 is one of the highlights of this generation. Tudor took the architecture of Breitling's respected B01 chronograph and adapted it with its own regulating system and finishing. The resulting COSC-certified movement combines a column wheel, vertical clutch, silicon balance spring, and approximately 70-hour reserve.

That makes the M79350 far more than an interesting predecessor to today's Black Bay Chronograph—it is a mechanically serious chronograph in its own right.

🌟 COLLECTOR PROVENANCE

The M79350 represents the first generation of Tudor's modern Black Bay Chronograph, and its aesthetic is now unique within the discontinued Black Bay catalogue. The engraved steel tachymeter bezel and original dial architecture distinguish it immediately from the later M79360N generation.

For collectors who prefer the original execution—or simply want a Black Bay Chronograph that isn't one of the now-familiar Panda configurations—the M79350 offers something increasingly different.

🗝️ BST VERDICT

Case #604 captures the Black Bay Chronograph at the beginning of its story. A compelling discontinued Tudor for the collector who appreciates the first iteration.
