🔎 Case Notes

The Black Bay Chrono takes Tudor’s heritage-sports vocabulary and pushes it in a more motorsport-driven direction.

The M79360N-0011 is the black-dial “Reverse Panda” configuration, pairing a domed black dial with contrasting silver chronograph registers, a fixed black tachymeter bezel, and the substantial 41 mm steel case that gives the watch real wrist presence.

This example dates from 2021 and presents in excellent pre-owned condition. It includes its box, papers, and cards and is currently sized to fit approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.

🌟 Collector Provenance

The Black Bay Chrono sits at an interesting intersection within Tudor’s modern catalog.

It carries the familiar Black Bay case architecture and snowflake-hand identity, but the fixed tachymeter bezel and contrasting sub-dials pull the design decisively toward the world of classic racing chronographs.

The MT5813 movement is equally important. It is a purpose-built automatic chronograph calibre with a silicon balance spring, COSC certification, and approximately 70 hours of power reserve, giving the watch considerably more technical substance than the vintage-inspired design might initially suggest.

🌟 Design Provenance

The Reverse Panda configuration is all about contrast.

The black dial keeps the watch visually grounded, while the silver counters at 3 and 9 o’clock give the chronograph layout immediate definition. Against the black tachymeter bezel and brushed steel case, the result feels more aggressive and instrument-like than the white-dial Panda version.

At 41 mm and 14.4 mm thick, it also has the wrist presence expected of a modern Tudor sports chronograph without crossing into oversized territory.

🧾 From the Case File

The Black Bay Chrono works particularly well as an everyday chronograph because it retains 200 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown and pushers, and the robust feel of a Black Bay diver while adding useful timing functionality.

The 70-hour reserve makes it practical off the wrist, and the T-fit clasp gives the bracelet genuine day-to-day flexibility.

This 2021 example adds excellent condition, BPC, and bracelet sizing to approximately 7¾ inches, making it a clean, complete example of one of Tudor’s most recognizable modern chronographs.

🗝️ BST Verdict

A bold, modern Tudor chronograph with excellent contrast and real technical credibility.

The Reverse Panda dial gives it stronger visual presence than the standard Black Bay, while the MT5813, 200-meter rating, and T-fit bracelet make it far more than a style exercise.
