Case Notes
The Black Bay 41 in black is Tudor at its most straightforward.
A 41 mm stainless-steel case, matte black dial, black aluminum dive bezel, Snowflake hands, and rivet-style steel bracelet create a watch that feels rooted in Tudor’s dive-watch history without leaning too heavily into nostalgia.
This is the manufacture-movement generation, powered by Tudor’s MT5602 automatic calibre with COSC certification and approximately 70 hours of power reserve.
The all-black execution is also the most restrained of the classic 41 mm Black Bay colorways. Without the burgundy warmth of the red version or the cooler character of the blue, the black configuration is the easiest to wear across almost any setting.
This example dates from 2023 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition. It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.
Because it dates from 2023, it should also retain useful Tudor factory warranty coverage, subject to the exact warranty-card date and Tudor’s five-year transferable guarantee terms.

Collector Provenance
The 79230 generation marked the point when the Black Bay moved decisively into Tudor’s manufacture-movement era.
The earlier Black Bay had already established the design language, but the MT5602 brought a longer reserve, chronometer certification, and a more modern mechanical platform underneath the same familiar exterior.
The black version is also the most neutral of the original 41 mm trio.
Its appeal is less about color and more about proportion, legibility, and the classic Tudor combination of black dial, Snowflake handset, and steel construction.
Design Provenance
The strongest feature here is restraint.
The black dial, black bezel, and steel case keep the palette simple, while the Snowflake hour hand and applied markers add just enough visual identity to separate it from a generic dive watch.
The rivet-style bracelet reinforces the vintage-inspired design without changing the watch into a period recreation.
At 41 mm, the case has substantial presence, but the monochrome colorway keeps the watch visually cleaner than the red or blue versions.
Technical Provenance
The MT5602 is one of Tudor’s core manufacture movements.
It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, carries COSC chronometer certification, and provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve.
The surrounding specification is equally straightforward: sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, unidirectional dive bezel, and 200 meters of water resistance.
It is a simple mechanical package designed to be used rather than managed.
From the Case File
The black Black Bay is the one that works almost anywhere.
It has enough dive-watch character to feel purposeful, but the monochrome palette makes it more versatile than many similarly sized sports watches.
Case 644 dates from 2023 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition.
It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.

BST Verdict
A classic Black Bay configuration with very little to argue with.
The black dial and bezel, 41 mm steel case, MT5602 manufacture movement, 70-hour reserve, and 200-meter capability make the M79230N-0009 one of the most straightforward and versatile watches in Tudor’s modern catalog.
Case 644 adds a 2023 date, Excellent condition, BPC, and remaining warranty potential to the most understated of the full-size Black Bay colorways.
Every case deserves a closer look.
