The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Le Petit Prince” takes one of IWC’s most recognizable instrument watches and gives it a distinctly richer personality.

Instead of the traditional black pilot’s dial, the IW377714 carries a deep midnight-blue dial—the defining signature of IWC’s “Le Petit Prince” editions. Against the stainless-steel 43 mm case and brown leather strap, the result is unmistakably a serious pilot’s chronograph, but with considerably more warmth and visual depth.

Dating from 2019, this example presents in excellent pre-owned condition and includes its box, papers, and cards.

It is fitted to brown leather and will accommodate approximately an 8-inch wrist.

🌟 Collector Provenance

The “Le Petit Prince” editions occupy a particularly recognizable place within IWC’s Pilot’s Watch catalog.

Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince, these watches are distinguished most immediately by their deep blue dials, which set them apart from the more utilitarian black-dial Pilot’s Watches.

The connection is especially fitting for IWC: Saint-Exupéry was not only an author, but an aviator, making the collaboration a natural extension of the manufacture’s long association with aviation-inspired watches.

🌟 Design Provenance

The IW377714 retains the visual discipline of a traditional cockpit instrument.

Large Arabic numerals, high-contrast luminous hands, clearly separated chronograph registers and day/date displays all prioritize immediate legibility.

But the blue dial changes the character completely.

Depending on the light, it can appear almost navy-black or become considerably more vivid, giving the watch a sense of depth that the standard Pilot Chronograph deliberately avoids.

The brown leather strap further emphasizes that warmer character and makes the watch particularly effective as a crossover between sport and everyday wear.

At 43 mm, this is a substantial watch.

The large case, broad dial opening and 15.4 mm height give the IW377714 genuine wrist presence, but the proportions are purposeful rather than decorative. This is the scale around which IWC built the traditional modern Pilot’s Chronograph.

Inside is IWC’s automatic Calibre 79320, offering a 44-hour power reserve, day/date display and full chronograph functionality. The movement is additionally protected by the soft-iron inner case historically associated with IWC’s professional pilot watches.

This 2019 example combines all of that with excellent condition, BPC and an 8-inch fit.

A Pilot’s Chronograph with considerably more character than the standard issue.

The midnight-blue dial is the star, but the combination of substantial 43 mm proportions, brown leather, excellent condition and complete presentation is what makes this particular example especially compelling.

It is unmistakably IWC—and unmistakably “Le Petit Prince.”
