Some pre-owned watches require careful examination to uncover the evidence of their previous life. Case #594 barely gives us anything to work with. This 2022 IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Le Petit Prince” presents exceptionally well, with remarkably little evidence of prior wear. For a discontinued example now several years removed from production, its condition is a significant part of the story.

The IW377714 pairs IWC's classic Pilot's Chronograph architecture with the distinctive sunburst blue dial of the “Le Petit Prince” collection, inspired by author and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's celebrated novella. Large luminous Arabic numerals, crisp white markings, day/date displays, and three chronograph registers create the functional cockpit-instrument appearance for which IWC's pilot watches are known, while the blue dial gives this edition considerably more visual depth.

Turn it over and the connection becomes unmistakable: the caseback carries the engraved image of the Little Prince, cape and sword in hand—a charming detail that separates the reference from the standard Pilot's Chronograph.

Condition Notes: Excellent pre-owned condition. This watch appears barely worn, with exceptionally little evidence of previous ownership. Case, dial, crystal, and overall presentation are remarkably clean for a pre-owned example.

📘 LE PETIT PRINCE

IWC's association with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry gives the Le Petit Prince watches considerably more substance than a simple dial-color variation. Saint-Exupéry was both the author of The Little Prince and an accomplished aviator, making the collaboration particularly appropriate for IWC's aviation-focused collection.

The rich blue dial is the immediate signature of the series, while the engraved Little Prince caseback provides the quieter detail discovered once the watch leaves the wrist.

At 43mm, the IW377714 retains the substantial proportions and exceptionally clear display expected of an IWC Pilot's Watch. Its automatic Calibre 79320 provides chronograph timing alongside both day and date indications, making this a genuinely functional everyday complication rather than merely a sporting aesthetic.

Despite the amount of information displayed, IWC maintains excellent legibility through the strong contrast between the blue dial, white Arabic numerals, and clearly delineated registers.

🌟 COLLECTOR PROVENANCE

Condition is the defining feature of this particular example.

IW377714s are certainly available on the secondary market; examples that appear to have been worn this sparingly are another matter. Add the 2022 date and complete BPC presentation, and Case #594 has the characteristics collectors typically seek when hunting for a discontinued reference rather than simply looking for the least expensive example available.

The watch presents much closer to a carefully preserved piece than a typical four-year-old pre-owned Pilot's Chronograph.
