🔎 Case Notes
The Black Bay has always been a watch with presence. In steel and yellow gold, it becomes something altogether different.
The M79733N-0008 takes Tudor’s familiar 41 mm dive-watch architecture and adds warm yellow-gold accents across the bezel, crown, hands, markers, and center links of the bracelet. Against the domed black dial and matte black bezel insert, the two-tone treatment is pronounced without turning the watch into jewelry first and a sports watch second.
On the wrist, that contrast matters. The gold center links visually broaden the bracelet and pull the eye outward from the dial, giving this Black Bay noticeably more wrist presence than its all-steel counterparts. It is still unmistakably a Tudor tool watch—just one with considerably more polish.
This example dates from 2023 and presents in excellent pre-owned condition. It includes its box, papers, and cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7½-inch wrist.

🌟 Collector Provenance
The Black Bay S&G represents Tudor taking its modern heritage diver beyond pure tool-watch territory without abandoning the architecture that made the collection successful.
The underlying specification remains serious: 41 mm steel case, 200-meter water resistance, domed sapphire crystal, unidirectional timing bezel, and Tudor’s Manufacture Calibre MT5612 with approximately 70 hours of power reserve.
What changes is the personality.
The yellow-gold bezel and crown accents, gilt dial furniture, and two-tone bracelet introduce a level of visual richness that is deliberately absent from the standard steel Black Bay. For collectors who like the proportions and heritage language of the original but want considerably more wrist presence, the S&G is the natural answer.
🌟 Design Provenance
Two-tone works best when the contrast is part of the architecture rather than an afterthought.
Here, the gold does not appear in a single isolated detail. It runs from the crown and bezel into the handset, hour markers, dial printing, and bracelet center links, creating a continuous visual line through the entire watch.
The black dial and bezel keep that warmth in check. Rather than becoming overly dressy, the watch retains the unmistakable structure of a Black Bay diver.
And on the wrist, the effect is substantial.
The 41 mm dimensions already give the Black Bay strong physical presence, but the alternating steel and yellow-gold bracelet makes it read even larger and more deliberate. It catches light differently from every angle and gives the watch considerably more visual weight than the same case in monochrome steel.
🧾 From the Case File
This is for the buyer who likes a Black Bay but does not want it disappearing into the crowd.
The MT5612 provides approximately 70 hours of reserve, the date at 3 o’clock adds genuine everyday utility, and 200 meters of water resistance means the S&G remains every bit as usable as the standard dive-watch configuration.
Yet the two-tone treatment changes what the watch feels like on the wrist. It can still handle casual daily wear, but the gold gives it enough presence to work in situations where a conventional steel sports watch can feel almost too restrained.
This 2023 example adds excellent condition, BPC, and bracelet sizing for approximately a 7½-inch wrist.
🗝️ BST Verdict
A Black Bay with considerably more visual authority.
The two-tone bracelet and yellow-gold detailing give the familiar 41 mm case real wrist presence, while the black dial and bezel prevent the watch from losing its underlying tool-watch character.
For someone who wants Tudor capability with a little more swagger, the S&G makes an unusually convincing case.
