Case #689 — Omega Planet Ocean (Blue) Ref. 215.30.44.21.03.001
Status: Available
Condition: Excellent Pre-Owned
Scope: Box, Papers, and Cards
Case Notes
The Planet Ocean is Omega’s heavyweight professional diver, but this blue configuration gives it a very different personality from the much more familiar black version.
The 43.5 mm stainless-steel case is paired with a deep blue ceramic dial and matching blue ceramic bezel, creating a watch that feels less severe and considerably more distinctive on the wrist.
The color is rich rather than bright. Indoors, the dial can read almost navy; in stronger light, the ceramic surface becomes much more vivid and reflective.
That matters because the blue version is encountered less often than the equivalent black Planet Ocean. It is not rare and was never limited, but it is the less obvious colorway within a model most buyers associate with black.
Inside is Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900, a twin-barrel automatic movement with approximately 60 hours of power reserve, METAS certification, and an independently adjustable hour hand.
This example dates from 2023 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition. It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.
Because it dates from 2023, it also remains within Omega’s five-year international factory warranty period, subject to the exact warranty-card date and Omega terms.

Collector Provenance
The Planet Ocean arrived in 2005 as Omega’s more serious professional dive-watch platform.
It took familiar Seamaster design elements and pushed them further: greater depth capability, larger cases, helium escape valves, substantial bezels, and increasingly advanced Co-Axial movements.
The 215-series generation brought the Planet Ocean fully into Omega’s Master Chronometer era.
This reference combines that modern technical platform with a blue-on-blue execution that is materially less common in current secondary-market inventory than the equivalent black configuration.
That does not make it a limited edition or production rarity. It simply means buyers looking specifically for blue have fewer examples to choose from.
Design Provenance
The blue ceramic dial and bezel transform the watch.
A black Planet Ocean leans heavily into professional dive-watch territory. The blue version keeps the same capability but feels more open, more reflective, and slightly less severe.
The ceramic surfaces also give the color unusual depth. The dial shifts noticeably with lighting, while the polished applied markers and broad hands stand sharply against the blue.
At 43.5 mm, it remains a substantial watch, but the broad bezel and integrated steel bracelet keep the overall proportions balanced.
Technical Provenance
The Calibre 8900 is one of Omega’s core Master Chronometer movements.
It uses twin barrels to provide approximately 60 hours of power reserve, runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour, and incorporates Omega’s Co-Axial escapement.
The independently adjustable hour hand is particularly useful for travel, allowing local time to be changed without disturbing the minutes or seconds.
The surrounding case is equally serious: 600 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, helium escape valve, sapphire crystal, and unidirectional ceramic bezel.
From the Case File
This is a full-capability Planet Ocean in a less expected colorway.
The blue ceramic dial and bezel give it considerably more personality than the standard black configuration, while the 43.5 mm case still delivers the substantial wrist presence Planet Ocean buyers expect.
Case 689 dates from 2023, presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition, and includes its Box, Papers, and Cards.
The bracelet is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist, and the watch retains meaningful Omega factory warranty coverage.
BST Verdict
A serious Omega diver in one of the less commonly encountered core colorways.
The blue ceramic dial and bezel, 43.5 mm steel case, Calibre 8900, 60-hour reserve, and 600-meter capability make this a full-strength Planet Ocean without defaulting to the usual black-on-steel formula.
Case 689 adds a 2023 date, Excellent condition, complete BPC presentation, and remaining factory warranty to an already distinctive configuration.
Every case deserves a closer look.
