Case Notes
The Aqua Terra has always been Omega’s answer to the one-watch question, and this blue teak-dial generation is one of the references that explains why.
The 41.5 mm stainless-steel case is paired with a rich blue dial cut with the vertical teak pattern that defined this era of Aqua Terra design. Applied markers, polished hands, and a framed date aperture at 3 o’clock keep the layout clean and highly legible, while the steel bracelet gives it enough presence to work as a true everyday sports watch.
Inside is Omega’s Co-Axial Calibre 8500, a twin-barrel automatic chronometer movement with approximately 60 hours of power reserve.
This example dates from 2017 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition. It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.

Collector Provenance
This generation of Aqua Terra sits at an important point in Omega’s modern development.
The Calibre 8500 was one of the movements that established Omega’s modern in-house Co-Axial era, built around twin barrels, a 60-hour reserve, and a movement architecture designed specifically for the Co-Axial escapement.
The watch around it remained deliberately versatile.
It carries enough polish to work in a professional setting, but 150 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, and a robust automatic movement make it far more capable than a conventional dress watch.
Design Provenance
The blue teak dial is the defining feature.
Rather than using a flat sunburst finish, Omega cut the surface with vertical lines inspired by the wooden decks of sailing yachts.
The result is a dial that changes substantially with the light, moving between navy, cobalt, and darker blue tones depending on angle.
The polished indices and hands add contrast without overwhelming the texture, while the steel bracelet keeps the watch visually cohesive.
At 41.5 mm, the watch has meaningful wrist presence but remains balanced enough for regular daily wear.
Technical Provenance
The Calibre 8500 is the technical centerpiece of this generation.
It runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour and uses twin barrels to provide approximately 60 hours of power reserve.
The movement is visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback and forms a meaningful part of the ownership experience.
The 150-meter water-resistance rating also gives the watch genuine everyday capability, making it equally comfortable around the office, on the road, or near the water.
From the Case File
The Aqua Terra works because it does not force the owner to choose between polished and practical.
The blue teak dial gives the watch visual character, while the steel bracelet, 150-meter rating, and 60-hour movement keep it useful.
Case 690 dates from 2017 and presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition.
It includes its Box, Papers, and Cards and is currently sized for approximately a 7¾-inch wrist.
