Case #704 — IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 “White” Ref. IW356811
Case #704 — IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 “White”
Ref. IW356811
Status: Available
Condition: Very Good Pre-Owned
Scope: IWC Travel Case and Card
Case Notes
The IW356811 is an Aquatimer from the era when IWC was building dive watches with almost absurd capability.
The specification starts with a 45.6 mm stainless-steel case and a water-resistance rating of 2,000 meters. Against that purpose-built architecture, the white dial gives the watch an unexpectedly clean and distinctive look.
It is one of those combinations that should not necessarily be subtle, yet works because everything is functional: bold luminous markers, broad hands, rotating dive bezel, date display, black rubber strap, and a case built to withstand far more than ordinary recreational diving would ever demand.
Inside is IWC’s automatic Calibre 30110, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 42 hours of power reserve.
This example dates from 2012 and presents in Very Good Pre-Owned condition.
It includes an IWC travel case and card and is fitted to a black rubber strap that will accommodate approximately an 8-inch wrist.
The rubber strap shows visible wear consistent with prior use.

Collector Provenance
The Aquatimer has always occupied the more technical side of IWC’s catalog.
This generation pushed that idea especially far.
The IW356811 was built around a 2,000-meter-rated case, making it substantially more capable than the majority of luxury dive watches while retaining the clean, highly legible design language expected from IWC.
The white dial is the feature that gives this reference its personality.
Most professional divers default to black or dark blue. The white IW356811 goes in the opposite direction, creating a brighter, more unusual execution without compromising the functional layout underneath.
Design Provenance
At 45.6 mm, this is not a discreet watch.
The large case, substantial bezel, and broad luminous markers give it genuine presence, but the white dial prevents the watch from feeling visually heavy.
The contrast between the white surface, dark hands, black rubber strap, and steel case creates an almost instrument-like appearance.
It is a particularly effective example of IWC taking a highly technical dive watch and making the colorway the unexpected part.
Technical Provenance
IWC’s Calibre 30110 is an automatic movement with 21 jewels, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 42 hours of power reserve.
The surrounding case is where the reference becomes exceptional.
IWC rated the IW356811 to 200 bar, or 2,000 meters of water resistance, while also fitting sapphire crystal and the brand’s quick-change strap system.
That combination makes the watch far more technically serious than its bright dial initially suggests.
From the Case File
This is an Aquatimer built for someone who actually likes a large, purpose-built sports watch.
The 45.6 mm case has substantial wrist presence, but the white dial gives the watch a distinctly different character from the more common dark-dial dive watches of the period.
Case 704 dates from 2012 and presents in Very Good Pre-Owned condition.
It includes an IWC travel case and card and is fitted to a black rubber strap that will accommodate approximately an 8-inch wrist.
The rubber strap shows visible wear consistent with normal prior use and is represented accordingly.

BST Verdict
A seriously overbuilt IWC diver in one of the more unusual executions of its generation.
The white dial, 45.6 mm steel case, automatic Calibre 30110, quick-change rubber strap, and extraordinary 2,000-meter specification give the IW356811 a combination of visual distinction and professional capability that is difficult to replicate.
Case 704 adds a 2012 date, Very Good condition, IWC travel case, and original card to a discontinued Aquatimer that feels very much of its era in the best possible way.
Every case deserves a closer look.
