Case #714 — Marathon OSAR-D Arctic
Ref. WW194006SS-2530

Status: Available
Condition: Excellent Pre-Owned
Scope: Box, Papers, and Cards

Case Notes

The OSAR-D Arctic is a professional tool watch first, and almost everything about it follows from that purpose.

The 41 mm stainless-steel case is built around Marathon’s Search and Rescue design language, with a fully hashed dive bezel, oversized screw-down crown, highly legible white Arctic dial, and a sapphire crystal with magnified date window.

The white dial is more than a color choice. Marathon developed the Arctic execution for improved legibility in bright and snow-blind environments, giving the watch a very different character from the standard black-dial OSAR-D while preserving the same professional specification.

Inside is a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement fitted with Incabloc shock protection.

This example presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition and includes its Box, Papers, and Cards. The warranty card is undated, so no active factory warranty is represented.

The watch is fitted to its black rubber strap system and will accommodate an 8-inch-plus wrist. Also included are the rubber extension piece and a Marathon NATO strap.

Collector Provenance

Marathon occupies a different space from most luxury dive-watch brands.

Its Search and Rescue watches were developed around Canadian Government requirements for professional SAR use, and the OSAR-D carries that functional lineage directly into the current collection.

The original SAR-D established the architecture in the early 2000s. Marathon later re-engineered the concept as the OSAR-D, updating the lume system, enlarging the indices, improving the date magnifier, and fitting a modern Sellita automatic movement with Incabloc shock protection.

The Arctic version takes that same platform and reverses the usual tool-watch color scheme with a white dial intended to remain highly legible in bright environments.

Design Provenance

The OSAR-D is almost entirely about readability.

The broad black hands and large luminous markers stand sharply against the white dial, while the fully graduated bezel gives the watch the visual density expected from a professional dive instrument.

The brushed steel case keeps reflections down and reinforces the utilitarian character.

At 41 mm, the case is substantial without becoming oversized, and the 48 mm lug-to-lug dimension keeps the proportions manageable for a professional diver.

Technical Provenance

The OSAR-D uses the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with Incabloc shock protection.

It is a widely used Swiss automatic architecture known for straightforward serviceability and everyday reliability.

Around it, Marathon builds a genuine professional dive-watch case: sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, unidirectional timing bezel, and 300 meters of water resistance.

The Arctic dial and MaraGlo illumination are designed around visibility rather than decoration, which is entirely consistent with the watch’s Search and Rescue brief.

From the Case File

Case 714 presents in Excellent Pre-Owned condition and comes with unusually useful strap versatility.

The black rubber setup will accommodate an 8-inch-plus wrist, and the included rubber extension increases that range further. A Marathon NATO strap is also included for a lighter alternative.

The watch includes Box, Papers, and Cards. The card is undated, so no active Marathon warranty is represented.

Accuracy may vary with age and service history, and water resistance is not guaranteed unless specifically stated and pressure-tested.

BST Verdict

A genuine professional tool watch with an unusually distinctive execution.

The Arctic white dial, 41 mm brushed-steel case, MaraGlo illumination, Sellita automatic movement, sapphire crystal, and 300-meter specification give the OSAR-D real working credentials rather than merely the appearance of them.

Case 714 adds Excellent condition, BPC, an extended rubber setup, and an additional Marathon NATO strap to one of the more interesting modern Search and Rescue references.

Every case deserves a closer look.
